FEDU Workshop on Experiential Teaching of Inclusive Education in BiH and Malaysia

A workshop on the topic “Experiential Teaching of Inclusive Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Malaysia” was held at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on June 15, 2023. The Workshop was initiated by the Faculty of Education (FEDU) as part of the implementation of the MoU between IUS and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), which was signed in 2019.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Almasa Mulalić and Dr. Ratnawati Bt. Mohd Asraf, as the keynote speakers and representatives of the respective education faculties, addressed various issues and challenges regarding inclusive education in both countries. The workshop was the outcome of a long-term research project that explored the conditions for children with special needs in Malaysian and Bosnian primary schools. Both scholars made valuable recommendations for policy-makers and legislators on how to improve legal, infrastructural, pedagogical, and psycho-social conditions for children with special needs. The workshop was attended by professors, senior researchers and graduate students who have been actively working on subjects related to inclusive education.

Furthermore, keynote speakers and participants were committed to work on the development of a research project on inclusive education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Malaysia to make another step towards the implementation of the MoU between the two universities.
