IUS Welcomes High School Students from Sarajevo and Istanbul for Educational Visit

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) had the pleasure of welcoming students from two high schools on Friday, April 17, 2026: Peta gimnazija from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Pertevniyal High School from Istanbul, Türkiye. The students were accompanied by their teachers Đenana Kadrić from Sarajevo, and Esra Yapıcıoğlu, Gülşen Öz, and Ziya Öz from Istanbul.

This visit was organized within the framework of the program “My Choice is Turkish,” which supports the teaching of Turkish as a second language in schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As part of this initiative, Peta gimnazija hosted a group of high school students and teachers from Türkiye, further strengthening educational and cultural ties between the two countries.

During their visit to IUS, the guests were warmly welcomed by the University staff, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dženana Bračković from the Turkish Language and Literature, Teaching (TLT) study program. The students were introduced to the study opportunities available at IUS through presentations delivered in both Bosnian and Turkish, allowing them to gain a closer understanding of the University’s academic environment and international character.

The visit provided the students with a valuable opportunity to learn more about higher education possibilities at IUS, while also encouraging intercultural exchange and strengthening connections among young people with a shared interest in the Turkish language and culture.

IUS was delighted to host these students and their teachers and remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote academic cooperation, multilingual education, and international friendship.
